conceived in collaboration with Mark Allen for Machine Project’s AIR at the Hammer Museum.
Visitors to the museum were given the choice between a fanfare announcement of their arrival provided by the brass trio, Scribble, or silence. The choice was indicated by a sign with two arrows – one arrow pointing to the left and marked “Fanfare” and one arrow pointing to the right and marked “No Fanfare” – which was placed at the bottom of the main lobby staircase. Visitors who chose “Fanfare” were treated to a brief unique improvisation.
