TIMEKEEPER

for JB Blunk Estate’s show, 100 Candleholders

This is a candlestick that keeps time. Through a series of nails, the candle burns and sounds - burns and resounds by dropping these nails onto a disc-shaped bronze bell - an early form of the modern clock.

But this candlestick has a terrible sense of time - certainly it can't keep industrial time because you're off the clock - so it instead keeps time in more poetic ways watching the dark hours - waiting for the moon - dog asleep at your feet - kids dozing in the next room- crickets in the distance - keeping time in the only way that matters. *ding*
