MOUNTAIN LANGUAGE

Mountain Language is a silent film of two drummers in a desert landscape, finding rhythm, pushing energy, and establishing time. Its poetry made at dawn by a community of musician in Los Angeles that are finding right relationship with their environment - jamming coffee - locking eyes - sun cresting the mountains in the Coachella Valley.

Filmed at dawn on the traditional territory and homelands of the Cahuilla people. The film site is outside the town of Bonnie Bell, CA at the Whitewater Preserve. The land was acquired through the Coachella Mountain Valley Conservancy (a part of the CNRA) and is now managed by the Wildlands Conservancy.

Mountain Language was commissioned by the California Natural Resources Agency for their Sacramento Headquarters, and permanently installed on a 32′ x 24′ digital screen.
